I built this website mainly because I don't like the superficial "like-for-like" culture on social platforms where the goal is to get as many likes as possible. I wanted a more slow place that readers go to because they are interested in what's there and not because an algorithm has forced the content upon them.
Little did I know that by doing that I'm part of a trend propelled by communities like "the Small Web", "Web0" and "the Indieweb".
As I understand it the difference is:
Indiewebsites are harder to find since they don't get served to us, we need to search for them. There are even special search engines for this since Google will put these sites very far down in search results. Each website looks different – some very professional and some a bit clunky and goofy just like this one :)
