In 2024 I left a career to do what I'd never had enough time for: to write, paint, make comics, make music, and read.
The reward is the moment something clicks — developing ability rather than tangible results. I put in hard daily work and observe a slow but steady increase in ability.
Tangible deliverables appear along the way — but as byproducts, not as goals. My actual goal is internal — the satisfaction of being able to do something that seemed impossible a month before.
You are welcome to follow the practice via my letter. Some readers follow quietly. Others write back — if you're making work for its own sake and want to exchange honest critique, write to me at jan@jansandstorm.com.
The practice page shows the inquiry disciplines.
